Educating students in our community about recycling helps make our younger generation aware of the importance and the impact that recycling can make. Many school systems across the country have recognized this and, as a result, instituted environmental education programs to increase awareness and knowledge among their students.
Parkersburg Recycling is doing its part locally in the Mid-Ohio Valley to educate students about environmental knowledge. Elementary and middle schools are visited by the Recycling Education Coordinator at the request of the principal or teacher. Age-appropriate presentations are prearranged with the teacher and allow for students to understand the importance and need for recycling. Students are given the opportunity to participate in recycling education with “hands-on” involvement through activities and games. The Education Coordinator also speaks to civic, social and business organizations about recycling.
If you would like the Recycling Education Coordinator to consider speaking at your school or your civic, social or business organization, call 304.424.8570 or email parkersburg.recycling@verizon.net.
